Enrolment at Maungaraki School

When to start school

Children can start school on or after their 5th Birthday.  At Maungaraki school we have adopted a Cohort Entry policy.  This means new entrants start school in cohorts or groups, but only after they have turned five.

There are 2 entry points per term, one on the first day of term and one at a mid point during the term as set by the Ministry of Education.  We hold 2 or 3 school visits per cohort which are held on the Fridays prior to a new entrants start date (this may change if a Friday falls on a public holiday).

Cohort start dates for 2022

Term 1: 2 February and 14 March
Term 2: 2 May and 7 June
Term 3: 25 July and 29 August
