On Monday 17th December 2007 we had the official opening of our new classroom, Room 10 (although this classroom was completed and put into use back in September). Maori minister Bruce Aranga kindly officiated the blessing, with a symbolic ribbon-cutting carried out by Year 8 leaver Alex accompanied by new entrant Georgina.
The weather was a little gloomy for us but that didn't stop a cheerful rendition of the Maori song "Pa Mai" by the entire school. Afterwards the pupils, staff and parents retired to the library for a piece of celebratory cake served by Mrs Jennings.
Here are some pictures of the occasion. (Click to enlarge)
We thank all those involved for completing this wonderful new teaching resource on time and to budget, including:
Rowan of Cararra Holdings (Building Contractor)
Andrew Hemsley, Octa Associates (Project Manager)
Kim Baldwin, Valley Design (Arhcitect)
Hugh Frostick, Terry Weaver & Dave Foster - BoT building sub-committee
Lloyd May - for kicking off the project whilst he was Acting Principal in 2006.
