New entrants, from the age of five years, and children who have already started school and are from Yr 0 to Yr 8 are entitled to enroll at the school. With the introduction of our Enrollment Scheme it is essential that parents pre-enroll their child at least 6 months prior to their start date. We also need to know as soon as possible if families will be leaving our school. New EntrantsNew entrants are welcome to begin school on their fifth birthday. Prior to your child starting school please contact the Principal (approximately two months prior) to arrange a suitable interview time which will include a tour of the school and to collect the enrolment package, which will include: - information brochure
- health information
- reading/mathematics information
- stationery list
- handwriting sheet
- enrolment form
Once an enrolment form has been received by the school, arrangements will be made for orientation visits, which will include: - attending the school (one or two mornings per week)
- meeting the teacher
- finding their way around the school, e.g. toilets, library, administration area etc.
For five year olds, verification of date of birth is required and an immunisation certificate is to be shown to the office staff. Notes for parents of new entrants:Parents are requested to supply the following: - school bag
- painting shirt (old shirt or blouse is suitable)
Please ensure children's articles are clearly named, especially raincoats and gumboots. Below are some suggestions for parents of new entrants: Prior to coming to school, or shortly after their arrival at school, children should be able to - dress themselves correctly (fasten coats, zips, tie shoe laces)
- learn their telephone number and home address
- know the names of the most common colours
- become familiar with using scissors, crayons, pencils
- recognise their own name in printed form
- know some letters of the alphabet
- count to 10 or above
Children already at schoolParents of children who have already started school may enroll their child at any time during the school year. It is recommended that an appointment be made with the Principal prior to the starting date so that class placements, progress, learning needs and other details can be discussed and the best decision made with regard to the child's future progress.
