Our classes are organised into three syndicates. Classroom organisation depends largely on the numbers of children within an area of the school. To cater for numbers we need to have composite classes, where two class levels are taught within the class. One of the best features of New Zealand education is that we teach to the students needs rather than to a set curriculum. Therefore within any classroom there will be students working at a variety of levels; grouping children is very much a part of how we teach. In distributing children to classes we consider several factors. Firstly we ensure students have friends with them in their new class, we look at which teacher would best suit the needs of the student, we consider age and we may consider academic ability. You will be informed of your child's classroom and teacher for the following year in the end of year school report.
